MCX Gold Slides 1.32% on Dollar-Rupee Weakness

WHAT HAPPENED MCX Gold fell to 152425 INR/10g at 14:04 IST, extending a -1.32% decline from the previous close. The pullback accelerates a reversal from the 164604 INR/10g peak recorded at 18:59 IST yesterday. Silver mirrored weakness at 230438 INR/kg (-1.46%), while crude climbed +1.89% to 8303 INR/bbl. USD/INR dipped -0.19% to 95.06 INR, reducing dollar-hedging demand for rupee bullion.

WHAT IT MEANS Gold traders face sustained downside pressure as the rupee strengthens against the dollar, eroding the hedging appeal of local bullion. The 12179 INR/10g loss since yesterday's peak signals a shift from safe-haven positioning. Cross-asset weakness in silver and stable natural gas hint at broader risk-off sentiment, though crude's strength keeps inflation hedging alive.

WHAT TO WATCH Support at 150000 INR/10g level. A break below this psychological floor would confirm continuation toward 148000 INR/10g; a hold signals potential consolidation around current levels.
