Crude's Hormuz Risk Premium Meets a 94.92 Rupee — FOMC Week Is the Stress Test

MCX Crude at ₹9784 is pricing war risk that Gulf export data does not yet confirm, and with the rupee at 94.92 and FOMC on Oct 28, that premium faces its first real test.

The catalyst

The dominant catalyst into next week is not a data release — it is the gap between crude's war-risk premium and the physical flow evidence.

MCX Crude closed the week at ₹9784/bbl, +3.16%, with WTI at $103.44, +3.99%. That move was built on a specific news chain: Rosneft supply pressure (Oct 21), a tanker fire in the strait (Oct 22), Gulf export threats, and an extension of the Iran conflict (Oct 23). Risk premia built on headlines have a decay function — they bleed out unless renewed by fresh incidents. We already saw the mechanism live this week: the Oct 22 "Iran strike denial" headline visibly capped the rally before the conflict-extension story re-ignited it.
