MCX Crude rallies +2.33% on rupee depreciation momentum
WHAT HAPPENED MCX Crude surged to 9719 INR/bbl at 03:03 pm IST, posting a +2.33% gain as USD/INR strengthened to 95.22 INR (+0.22% vs prev close). The rupee's continued depreciation has restored export competitiveness for domestic crude producers, extending the rally seen overnight. Natural gas climbed +1.21% to 291.9 INR/mmBtu, while gold and silver remained subdued at 144078 and 195611 INR respectively.
WHAT IT MEANS The sustained rupee weakness is driving crude higher despite global price consolidation. For MCX futures traders, this FX-led rally signals strong export margin support for domestic producers. The move keeps crude bid above 9500 INR/bbl and positions the contract within the uptrend established since the 9493 level at 12:51 am IST yesterday.
WHAT TO WATCH Monitor 9750–9800 INR/bbl resistance and USD/INR stability above 95.15 INR. A break toward 9850 INR would confirm momentum; a dip below 9650 INR would suggest profit-taking has begun.
