MCX Natural Gas Slips 0.93% as Crude Strength Fades

MCX Natural Gas Slips 0.93% as Crude Strength Fades

WHAT HAPPENED MCX Natural Gas declined to 267.2 INR/mmBtu at 18:23 IST, posting a -0.93% loss from the previous close. The pullback extends the overnight weakness that reached 274.5 INR/mmBtu at 22:29 IST yesterday (-2.38%). Crude Oil's +5.07% surge to 9560 INR/bbl has failed to lift gas, while USD/INR firmed 0.38% to 95.53 INR, weighing on rupee-denominated commodity prices.

WHAT IT MEANS Natural Gas traders face weakening momentum despite crude's strong rally. The instrument has now given back all of the 14:34 IST bounce (283 INR/mmBtu, +1.43%) and sits well below the 19:35 IST high of 284.2 INR/mmBtu. This decoupling from crude suggests demand concerns or supply ease are overriding global energy strength, pinning positions defensively.

WHAT TO WATCH The 265 INR/mmBtu support level and whether gas can stabilize above 270 INR/mmBtu. Break below 265 would signal fresh downside toward 260 INR/mmBtu.
