MCX Crude slips on profit-taking after recovery run

WHAT HAPPENED MCX Crude eased to 8746 INR/bbl at 22:29 IST, posting a -0.16% decline after a sustained multi-leg recovery sequence. The pullback follows the +2.19% rally to 8952 INR/bbl at 14:28 IST and the +4.32% surge to 8501 INR/bbl at 22:58 IST yesterday. USD/INR strength at 94.84 (+0.28%) and broad commodity consolidation—with MCX Gold flat at 152824 INR/10g and MCX Silver up +0.16%—signal profit-taking on crude's extended upside.

WHAT IT MEANS The marginal decline reflects consolidation rather than reversal within the established recovery structure anchored at 7918 INR/bbl from 21:26 IST yesterday. For MCX futures traders, the 8746 level remains well above support, but rupee appreciation (94.84) creates headwinds on dollar-denominated crude. Cross-asset weakness in natural gas (-2.38%) suggests cooling demand expectations.

WHAT TO WATCH The 8700 INR/bbl support zone—breached intraday—will confirm whether consolidation holds or fresh downside develops. A retest of 8500 INR/bbl would signal weakening recovery conviction.
