MCX Crude falls 1.93% as supply concerns ease

WHAT HAPPENED MCX Crude dropped to 7882 INR/bbl at 12:51 pm IST, posting a -1.93% decline from the previous close. The retreat extends the pullback from the 8961 INR/bbl peak logged on 24 January as geopolitical supply anxieties continue to moderate. USD/INR softened to 95.42 INR (-0.33%), while natural gas edged higher +0.57% to 266.1 INR/mmBtu. Gold and silver also retreated, down -0.50% and -0.72% respectively.

WHAT IT MEANS MCX Crude is consolidating within a broad downtrend from last week's highs. The successive lower lows (8961 → 7545 → 7882 today) signal weakening momentum and fading geopolitical premium. For futures traders, the cross-asset softness in precious metals and moderate rupee strength suggest risk-off sentiment, limiting crude's upside traction near term.

WHAT TO WATCH The 7800 INR/bbl support level is now critical. A break below here targets the 7545 swing low from 10:27 pm IST yesterday. Conversely, a rebound toward 8000 INR/bbl would test near-term recovery conviction.
